Trip to NACA

I attend semesterly conferences as part of my job. I love these trips-I get to learn a lot, visit with friends, and watch a number of bands, comedians, etc. (I, of course, enjoy the comedy offerings more than music on a typical basis.)

This semester the conference is in Boston for the second time in my Miami Experience. That means I have to fly, which is one of my least favorite forms of travel. (By foot and bus are worse, for those keeping score.) However...at least my trip to the airport will be nice. For the first time ever I get to ride in a limo! :-) I joked with Vanessa that with my "NACA Celeb" status, as people like to joke about I deserve a limo. Now I got it!

The moral of the story...when you see a limo and wander who the celeb is inside....remember, it could easily just be a "NACA Celeb" like me!

6 days until pitchers and catchers!

The Kid's Table

So if you are reading this (hi, Elissa!) you know we just had the funeral for Jennifer's Dad. After , we went to his/Jennifer's sisters house with the whole family to have dinner/socialize. Lots of food and lots of people.

There are a few rooms in the house...just a few. So all of the "adults" were in the combo living room/dining room/ kitchen. Jennifer joked that we were in the Kids room. It was interesting....because it was true. At 32 I was the oldest person in the room, and we were definitely sitting at the "Kids Table." Me, Jennifer (28), Jillian (26), Josh (23), Jennifer's cousin Natasha (23), Anita (14), and Taylor (11). Anita and Taylor are the two that have come up the past few years.

The purpose...in as much as I have one...Life is more fun at the Kids Table.

Hard Day 2

Today is the funeral. I was surprised with how well yesterday helped people. I know the sadness and loss will always be there for Jennifer, Jillian, and the rest of the family, but now I see the benefit of the service. I've agreed to the point that I have agreed to have the Wake/Visitation, even though my body will already be creamated (and hopefully soon to be spread on GABP.)

I am not sure which will be harder on people...today or yesterday. I hope this helps Jennifer heal.

Hard

So absolutely no one knows about this blog yet, so no one will be reading this unless it is in an archived view.  However, I know the next two days are going to be amazingly hard on Jennifer.  I hope the love and support of me, her family, and friends helps her make it through the next few days, and I hope we can all help her make it through the trying years ahead.

I would do pretty much anything for her...and I hope she knows that.  I love her more than I could ever explain, and I hate her hurting like this.  It is so great she has so much family around to help support her.

Got to get back to her...just wanted to put this somewhere.  Since I have this...I may as well use it.

Love you if you ever get around to reading this, Jennifer.

Update#1 If you did not know this (and I am sure you do) Jennifer is one of the strongest and most amazing people in the world.

Update#2 It is amazing how close and important people can grow to you. Jennifer's family is my family. There are some of them as close or closer than some people in mine. It is hard to see their hurt.
